Mounting Your Plaque.
Foundry & Gauge plaques are designed to allow the fixing method to be selected for the surface and setting in which they will be installed, rather than prescribing a single mounting system.
The most appropriate fixing method will depend on:
- The surface the plaque is being fixed to
Different fixing systems are suited to different materials, such as painted walls, timber, masonry, glass, metal or stone. - Whether the installation is indoors or outdoors
Exterior installations may be exposed to moisture, temperature changes and weather, so any fixing system used should be suitable for those conditions. - The condition of the mounting surface
A clean, stable surface will generally provide a more reliable installation than one that is dusty, uneven, loose or deteriorating. - Whether the plaque needs to be removable or permanently installed
Some fixing methods are intended to allow later removal, while others are designed for long-term or permanent installation.
For a clean, flush appearance, an appropriate high-bond adhesive fixing system may be suitable on compatible surfaces. Compatibility depends on the surface and environment.
For permanent exterior installations, unusual surfaces or locations where failure could cause damage or injury, we recommend using a fixing method specifically rated for the intended surface and environment, or seeking advice from an experienced installer.
Always follow the fixing manufacturer’s preparation and installation instructions.
Foundry & Gauge does not currently supply mounting hardware or specify one universal fixing system, as the correct method depends on the installation.
